Overview

This English Law, Regulations, Construction Procurement and Contracts short course will give you an overview of the English legal system, and its regulations and procedures relating to architectural practice.


Course Summary

Delivered by a range of professional experts in the field, this lecture-based course is one of the modules taught on the University’s RIBA Part III course.


Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course you will be able to understand:


  • the legal context of the design development and delivery process
  • the key regulations that govern building design and construction
  • the principles of risk in procurement and contract choice
  • the different methods of dispute resolution
  • town planning and building regulations procedures

You will also have developed the skills to identify procurement routes and choose an appropriate construction contract.
