Who is this course designed for?

This course has been designed for delegates at all levels of experience and involvement with renal and urinary cases in both canines and felines. Whether you are actively involved with the diagnostic process and nursing care of these patients or are less familiar and wish to learn more, this course is perfect for you. This course will cover the condition from diagnosis through to home management and client education. The ultimate goal is to provide RVNs with the knowledge and skills to most effectively assist with diagnosis, patient monitoring, and delivery of nursing care.

Course content:

The course covers various aspects of nephrology and urology including:

  • Pathophysiology of a range of renal and urinary conditions
  • The diagnostic process and testing
  • In patient management of renal diseases
  • In patient management of urinary diseases
  • Owner communication and education for continued management

The pathophysiology behind the conditions will be discussed, including presentation and clinical signs. The diagnostic testing and process, and the RVNs role within this, general nursing care and specific requirements will be delivered through lectures and case-based discussions. The sessions will be interactive and discursive.
