Degree Overview:
This program, delivered by the School of Law and Criminology at Maynooth University, focuses on developing knowledge and skills in conflict and dispute resolution through mediation practices. It covers current concepts, policies, and good practices within the field, alongside the critical skills required to become an effective mediator. Participants will gain the foundational understanding and practical abilities necessary to facilitate peaceful resolution in various contexts, including family and community disputes, commercial and workplace conflicts, and peacebuilding initiatives. The program follows a blended learning approach, incorporating online sessions with live classes, practice sessions, and peer feedback. It provides a structured environment for gaining knowledge and sharpening skills in mediation. Upon successful completion, participants can apply to take a separate professional assessment to become eligible for membership in the Mediators' Institute of Ireland (MII).
Outline:
- Duration: 3 months, part-time
- Delivery: Saturdays on-campus from 9.30am-4.30pm (Maynooth University) and online classes on Tuesday evenings from 6pm-8.30pm
