ACI - Anaesthetic Critical Incidents

Overview

Our one-day course covers anaesthetic critical incident practice for anaesthetists and operating department practitioners. Get a full day of risk-free practice in our high-fidelity simulation suite.


Full Description

ACI is mandatory for Anaesthetic CT2s in the Health Education East of England Essex Rotation (Basildon, Broomfield, Colchester and Southend). Delegate registration for Essex rotation Anaesthetic CT2 and ACCS (Anaesth) trainees is subsidised by Health Education East of England. You will be allocated your place in advance.


The course will cover:


  • Anaesthetic critical incident practice for anaesthetists and operating department practitioners (ODPs) in our high-fidelity simulation suite.
  • A full day of risk-free simulated practice at managing critical incidents.
  • Act in your own roles in theatre - exactly as you do in real life.
  • Feedback on clinical and human factor aspects.
  • Systematic approach to common and rare critical incidents.
  • Includes many of the critical incidents tested in the FRCA exams.
  • Ideal for both trainee and more senior anaesthetists and ODPs who wish to practice their skills.

ACI is approved by the Royal College of Anaesthetists for five CPD credits

Fees & Funding

Delegate registration is fully funded for Anaesthetic CT1s and ACCS2 (Anaesth) in the Health Education East of England School of Anaesthesia. You will be allocated your place in advance.


  • ODPs: £50. Funded places may be available via your trust.

If funded places are not available, register and pay in the Anglia Ruskin online store. Payment by credit card accepted. Confirmation will be sent to you on receipt of your application to attend.


Entry Requirements

Our short course is suitable for ODP’S and HEEEoE Anaesthetic trainees, who are fully funded to attend ACI. IF YOU ARE AN ANAESTHETIC TRAINEE, PLEASE TALK TO AS YOU WILL NEED TO APPLY VIA THE BRIDGE. DO NOT APPLY VIA THE ARU WEBSITE. Please speak directly with your place of employment regarding the payment. Please note there are limited places for this course and will be on a first serve basis.
