Teaching and Assessment
Year 1
In Year 1, you'll receive an overview of the origins and development of the events sector, including the foundations of organisational structure and sustainable business. You’ll assess British and international events management and operations, and how they respond to opportunities, challenges, risks, and limitations. As well as this, you’ll develop employability skills crucial to the sectors, parallel to developing knowledge.
We’ll also explore quality management in events, hospitality, and tourism, giving you direction and the ability to identify and utilise approaches to long-term successes. And you’ll have an introduction to finance and accounting, involving economic concepts, accounting principles, and mathematics.

Year 2
Year 2 introduces you to the practical implementation of event planning and project management.
We’ll explore the interfaces between venues, spaces, people, and performance in diverse settings; as well as investigating links between concept, preproduction, stakeholders, finalisation, and execution. We introduce the theoretical basis for human resource management and the range of activities it covers. And we evaluate alternative approaches in the use of the marketing mix, looking at short- and long-term organisation and demands.
During this year you’ll develop an understanding of the design of events such as conferences, meetings and exhibitions; and management skills such as relationship, time, menu, decoration, lighting, sound, special, effects, budgeting, risk assessment and promotion.

Year 3
In your final year, you’ll identify the principal managerial issues in launching an international event. You’ll consider financial, organisational, cultural and ethical barriers along with the conceptualisation, promotion, production, and innovation of events.
We’ll explore these fundamental principles while also analysing detailed information about venue types and situations. Topics covered include the history of public venues, business management, finance, ticketing, safety, security, and booking.
You will also assess examples of invoices, cash flows, rental agreements, and financial statements to illustrate real-world situations managers can expect to address.
Finally, there’s the opportunity to conceive and implement your own mock-event, putting theory into practice and gaining valuable practical experience.

Tuition Fees and Payment Information:
Tuition fees for UK students (2023/24): £9,250 per year (full-time)
Payment:
UK students can apply for a Tuition Fee Loan to cover course fees. Both full-time and part-time students can apply. Repayment begins in the April after graduation. For students starting a course on or after 1 August 2023, repayment is not required until earnings exceed £25,000 per year. At this point, 9% of earnings over £25,000 will be repaid. After 40 years, any remaining debt is wiped.
Living Costs:
Living costs at university can range from around £7,000–£9,000 per year. They may be lower if living at home.
Scholarships:
ARU London offers a £1,000 Entry Scholarship to new applicants who have achieved 144 (AAA) UCAS points (UK/EU) or a minimum of 80% or GPA 5.0 in A-Levels or equivalent qualifications (international students). This scholarship will be taken off the first year's fees. ARU London also has a scholarship for Top Achievers. Students with the greatest results from foundation year, Year 1, and Year 2 of study receive £2,000 off their tuition fees for the following academic year.
