Overview
Gain the knowledge and experience you need to work with dogs. Completion of this Level 2 qualification is an excellent platform for you to progress into the canine industry or to complete further study. We're an iPET Network approved training provider.
Full Description
This Ofqual regulated qualification course is a general ‘all-rounder’ at a basic level. You will learn to:
- understand essential care of the dog
- identify legislation relevant to keeping dogs
- explain the nutritional requirements of dogs
- recognise basic canine body language
- understand techniques for handling and restraint
- outline basic principles of training
- identify basic canine anatomy
- recognise disease and how it could be prevented.
You must attend all eight sessions. There will be a significant amount of self-study required between sessions (approximately 36 hours). To achieve the qualification you must attend the sessions and complete a workbook, which must be passed.
Your Tutor
Your tutor is Kate Middleton BSc MSc PGCE. Kate has a degree in Animal Science and a Masters in Animal Behaviour. She started her own dog-walking and pet-sitting business in 2014, and also works part-time as a teacher in canine-related studies. She holds a Level 4 in Canine Emergency First Aid, and is currently studying for an Advanced Level 5 Diploma in Canine Behaviour Management.
Due to the content of the course please be aware you are not permitted to bring your own dog.

This course is suitable for people with limited existing knowledge or experience of dogs.
