Overview
Learn what to do in an emergency situation involving your dog. Our one-day canine first aid course covers the role of the first aider, handling and restraining an injured dog, and assessing and administering first aid.
Full Description
As well as emergency situations involving dogs, this animal first aid course also covers the treatment of minor injuries. You'll explore:
- Bandaging
- CPR
- Conducting observations
- How to transport an injured or sick dog.
Your tutor for the canine first aid course is Kate Middleton BSc MSc PGCE. Kate has a degree in Animal Science and a Masters in Animal Behaviour. She started her own dog-walking and pet-sitting business in 2014, and also works part-time as a teacher in canine-related studies. She holds a Level 4 in Canine Emergency First Aid, and is currently studying for an Advanced Level 5 Diploma in Canine Behaviour Management.
Free parking is available on campus in Writtle: we'll issue a permit to you and ask that it's clearly displayed in your vehicle. Tea and coffee-making facilities are available; please bring a packed lunch and any other refreshments.
We'll issue a certificate of attendance when you complete this course. Due to the content of the course please be aware you are not permitted to bring your own dog.
Once you've completed our canine first aid course, we recommend re-taking it every three years.

You must be over 16 to join this course.
