Program Overview

Hand Held Hedge Cutters (NPTC)

Overview

Join our Level 2 Certificate of Competence course covering pre-use checks and maintenance of hand-held hedge cutters, identification of controls and instruments, and operation. This one-day course at ARU Writtle is NPTC City & Guilds approved.

Full Description

If you operate handheld hedge cutters as part of your work in agriculture, horticulture, landscaping, arboriculture or forestry, this training and assessment course is for you.

If you prefer, you're welcome to bring your own machine in 'as used' condition along with operator manual and any spares, such as air filters and blades. We can then work on a 'real' situation and carry out some routine servicing.

The instructor/student ratio is 1:4.

Free parking is available on campus in Writtle: we'll issue a permit to you and ask that it's clearly displayed in your vehicle. Tea and coffee-making facilities are available; please bring a packed lunch and any other refreshments.

To achieve this qualification, you must successfully complete a practical assessment with oral questioning by an NPTC City & Guilds approved assessor.

Who Should Attend?

This course is suitable for anyone who operates hand-held hedge cutters as part of their work in agriculture, horticulture, landscaping, arboriculture or forestry.

Dates

We'll add future dates once confirmed.

The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 states 'It is an offence to intentionally or recklessly take, damage, destroy or interfere with a nest of any wild bird whilst it is in use or being built'.

With this is mind we try to avoid running this course during the main nesting season, between March and August. An environmental risk assessment is completed before the course starts to ensure nests are not disturbed.
