Program Overview

Horticultural Machine Maintenance, Service and Repair

Overview

Learn how to maintain your garden machinery such as line trimmers, brushcutters, hedgecutters, blowers, and rotary mowers in this one-day course.

Full Description

You will learn how to ensure the machines work safely and efficiently. Topics you will cover include:

  • Recoil cord replacement
  • Rotary blade sharpening
  • Air filter serving
  • V belt adjustment
  • Cable adjustments
  • And similar

You are encouraged to bring your own machines in “as used” condition along with operator manuals and any spares, for example, air filters and blades. We can then work on a “real” situation and do some routine servicing.

A Certificate of Attendance will be issued on completion of the course.

The instructor/student ratio is 1:8.

Free parking is available on Writtle campus: we'll issue a permit to you and ask that it's clearly displayed in your vehicle. Tea and coffee-making facilities are available; please bring a packed lunch and any other refreshments.

Who Should Attend?

This course is for small businesses, self-employed individuals, and property owners with larger gardens. If you require a more in-depth knowledge on specific equipment, you may wish to consider a more advanced servicing and repair course.
