MA, PG Cert, PG Dip Interior Design Innovation

Introduction

Studying Interior Design Innovation at ARU pushes your interior design practice and spatial thinking beyond existing boundaries, towards speculative, analytical, and entrepreneurial approaches that extend from the room to the city. Make a positive contribution to society, health, and planet through ethical and systemic innovation in the built environment.

Student Experience

  • Work closely with students from across Cambridge School of Art on an industry-led collaborative project, delivering public-facing events.
  • Experience a start-up environment and relaxed culture in which creativity and creative problem solving are valued.
  • Receive support and guidance from experienced staff who have worked with companies such as OMA, Fitch, Ford, Ramboll, Transport Research London, and Samsung.

Teaching and Assessment

  • Learning and teaching include both face-to-face and online modes, where required.
  • Engage actively in the construction of your own knowledge, which will require higher order thinking and rethinking assumptions.
  • Assessment methods reflect the skills, knowledge, and understanding that you’ll need to work as an innovative interior designer, such as design projects, written texts, staged reviews, personal and group tutorials, individual and group design work, presentations, reports, and documents.

Entry Requirements

  • A first degree, with honours, in a related subject and at a minimum final classification of lower second (2:2) or equivalent.
  • If English is not your first language, you will be expected to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 6.5 (Academic level) or equivalent English Language qualification, as recognised by Anglia Ruskin University.
  • You will be asked to provide a digital portfolio for review and will be given the option to book a meeting to discuss this with us.

Fees and Paying for University

  • Tuition fees for UK students (2025/26): £11,100 UK students starting 2025/26 (full-time, per year)
  • Tuition fees for international students (2025/26): £19,500 International students starting 2025/26 (full-time, per year)
  • ARU graduates may be eligible for an Alumni Scholarship and get a 20% fee discount.

Facilities and Showcase

  • Industry-standard facilities, including 3D workshops, specialist printmaking workshop, dedicated Mac and PC suites, Ruskin Gallery, photography and media facilities, and life drawing studio.
  • Futures Lab and workshop equipment, including 3D printers and scanners, 2D printing and cutting machines.
