Program Overview
LLB (Hons) Law
Introduction
Sharpen your comprehension of law and take your first steps to becoming a law professional, with our LLB (Hons) degree at ARU London.
Can we make a difference in society?
What is the purpose of law?
Dr Imranali Panjwani gives a 60-second seminar on the purpose of law.
At ARU London, you can take your first step to becoming a solicitor or barrister. Our LLB (Hons) Law degree will qualify you for the next stage of your legal training.
This qualifying law degree allows you to progress to the vocational stage of training as a barrister if you graduate with a 2:2 or above. It also covers the subjects which are examined by the Solicitor’s Qualifying Exam 1 (SQE 1), the first step in professional training to become a solicitor.
Here at ARU London, you’ll study both academic and practical aspects of the law, which not only prepare you for a legal career but will also give you many skills that are highly valued in other occupations.
As you go through our core modules, you'll be developing key knowledge of fundamental features of the UK and EU legal systems, and the context in which the law operates. All this, while engaging in critical analysis with peers, solving legal problems, and undertaking independent research, flexing your ability to construct complex legal arguments.

Year 1

You’ll develop legal skills including fact handling, case reading, statutes analysis, and legal research. You’ll also learn about legal power, where it is located in the constitution, and how and whom it is scrutinised and checked by.
We’ll also look at English contract law and the European dimension and, aside from studying 'black letter' law, you’ll critically assess the law in social, political and economic contexts.
Modules are subject to change and availability.
We’ll assess your progress through a variety of methods, including coursework, group assignments, activity-based assignments and exams. You can expect to take part in ongoing problem-solving activities, projects and presentations. You’ll also be able to access support material through our virtual learning environment.
