Whole course
During our one year course, you’ll learn within our state-of-the-art mechanical engineering labs, where you’ll gain an in-depth understanding of advanced engineering design and analysis techniques, modern materials and their structural integrity; and advanced manufacturing technology.
You’ll develop your problem-solving skills together with critical, analytical, interpersonal and computational skills, which are directly applicable to mechanical engineering, as well as being transferable to other situations and required by industry worldwide.
As you continue within the course, you understand the importance of teamwork within organisations and projects, and develop the knowledge and skills required to effectively lead and manage teams.
You’ll experience a series of seminars presented by external speakers and develop a critical awareness of current problems and give new insights at the forefront of this discipline. During the project preparation you’ll be made aware of needs for ethical design which should at all times underpin the nature of solutions.

You’ll be assessed in a variety of ways, including presentations, examinations, technical written reports and essays, team projects and coursework.

Entry Requirements
Standard entry requirements
- Applicants will require an honours degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent subject at 2.2 or above from a recognised university. Those who do not possess an honours degree, but have a degree or degree equivalent qualification and/or work experience will be considered. qualifications from an approved professional body will also be taken into account. Applicants may be invited for interview.
- If English is not your first language you will be expected to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 6.5 ( Academic level) or equivalent English Language qualification, as recognised by Anglia Ruskin University.
