Teaching and Assessment

Assessment

  • You'll complete formative tasks which are assessed (Pass/Fail) by Practice Educator Assessors and summative tasks (assignments) which are fine graded by Module Tutors.
  • The overall portfolio mark is the mark awarded for summative task(s), subject to all formative tasks having been passed by Practice Educator Assessors.

Entry Requirements

  • Our PG Cert Practice Educator (Social Work) course is designed for social workers registered with Social Work England, who are at least two years qualified with significant practice experience.

Fees and Paying for University

  • Tuition fees for UK students (2025/26): £3,700 UK students starting 2025/26 (part-time, per year)
  • ARU graduates may be eligible for an Alumni Scholarship and get a 20% fee discount.

Careers

  • Once you’re accredited as a PEPS 2 practice educator, you are qualified to assess student social workers doing either Stage 1 (70-day initial placement) or Stage 2 placements (100-day final placement).
