Program Overview
Promoting Innovation in Mental Health Care
Overview
This is a change management module. You'll focus on an idea to help support people with mental health issues and/or their carers in the community; for example a weekly support group for carers of people with dementia and how this would potentially be implemented.
Full Description
Collaborative working involves a range of stakeholders and organisations. The inclusion of service users and their families and carers in decision making has been a major shift in care delivery, as has the move from a medical model to a social model.
Underpinning this is the emphasis on recovery principles and not symptom management. The development of peer workers in the UK has also led to recognition of how individuals who have experience of mental health problems can contribute to the recovery of others.
How You'll Learn
You'll learn through blended learning, beginning with two days of face-to-face sessions at Chelmsford campus, comprising lectures and workshops. The remainder of the module will be taught online, via our VLE and will utilise discussion boards, e-tivities and guided reading.
Individual tutorial support is available either face-to-face and/or by email or telephone.
