START Course - Simulated Transfer and Retrieval Training

Overview

START is a one-day multidisciplinary course for all those who deal with critically ill patients requiring transfer - anaesthetists, intensivists, ODPs, critical care nurses and emergency medical personnel.


Full Description

The course includes:


  • a full day of simulated practice of transferring critically ill patients in our high-fidelity simulation suite
  • a systematic approach to transfer, for both real life and exams
  • inter- and intra-hospital transfers
  • time-critical and non time-critical transfers
  • preparation of patients, transfer and reception
  • management of critical incidents en route
  • feedback on practical and human factor aspects

Who Should Attend

START is fully funded for Anaesthetic CT2s, ACCS3 Anaesthetic and ICM trainees in the East of England School of Anaesthesia. A limited number of places are available.
