Learn more about the safe use and maintenance of tractors. Our two-day training and assessment course at Writtle College is accredited by Lantra Awards.

Topics covered will include:


  • safe use
  • maintenance
  • controls/functions and operations
  • uses and applications including power take off (PTO) implements.

This course is aimed at operators working in a commercial environment, who have at least six months' experience of driving a tractor. Our instructor/student ratio is 1:4.

Entry Requirements

To join this course you should ideally have six months' experience of driving a tractor.


As we're governed by Health and Safety Executive (HSE) regulations, you will not be allowed to start the course without wearing steel toe-capped boots or shoes, gloves and suitable protective clothing which provides full cover for arms and legs. We strongly recommend also wearing a high-visibility vest.
