Program Overview
The African American Studies program at the University of Wisconsin–Madison offers an interdisciplinary approach to studying black history, culture, and society. The program challenges students to critically examine the African American experience and offers an undergraduate major, certificate, and M.A. program. Faculty and students are actively involved in community outreach programs and collaborate with other disciplines to foster a deeper understanding of race and ethnicity.
