Program Overview


Business: Real Estate and Urban Land Economics: Real Estate and Urban Economics, MS

The MSBusiness: Real Estate and Urban Economics offers a holistic and in-depth real estate graduate education. The program features world-class faculty, hands-on projects, case studies, internships, and domestic and international travel opportunities. Students can pursue specializations such as Applied Real Estate Investment (AREIT), Private Equity (PE), or Affordable and Sustainable Housing Development, or focus on development and complementary electives through the Core path.

Curricular Requirements

  • Minimum Credit Requirement: 30 credits
  • Minimum Residence Credit Requirements: 16 credits
  • Minimum Graduate Coursework Requirement: 15 credits must be graduate-level coursework
  • Overall Graduate GPA Requirement: 3.00 GPA required
  • Other Grade Requirements: Students may be required to retake a course in which they receive a grade lower than a C
  • Assessments and Examinations: No required assessments or examinations beyond course requirements
  • Language Requirements: No language requirements

Required Courses

The degree allows students to select one or more areas of focus. The four paths are:


  1. Path I - Core MS: Students must take specific courses, including Real Estate Excel Modeling, Real Estate ARGUS Modeling, Real Estate Finance, and others, totaling 30 credits.
  2. Path II - Applied Real Estate Investment: Students must take specific courses, including Real Estate Excel Modeling, Real Estate ARGUS Modeling, Public Real Estate Equity Investment, and others, totaling 30 credits.
  3. Path III - Private Equity Investment: Students must take specific courses, including Real Estate Excel Modeling, Real Estate ARGUS Modeling, Private Real Estate Equity Investment I, and others, totaling 30 credits.
  4. Path IV - Affordable and Sustainable Housing Development: Students must take specific courses, including Real Estate Excel Modeling, Real Estate ARGUS Modeling, Affordable Housing, and others, totaling 30 credits.

Approved Electives

A list of approved electives is provided for all four paths. If a course on this list is required in the selected path, it cannot also count as an approved elective.
