Film Studies

Program Overview

Weber State University's interdisciplinary film studies program offers courses taught by experienced industry professionals from various departments. The program prepares students for careers in film and television production, advertising, marketing, and distribution, as well as for graduate studies in film. Graduates are well-equipped for roles such as producers, directors, camera operators, and film editors.

Program Outline

Teaching:

• Weber State takes an interdisciplinary approach to film studies, with classes offered by the Department of Visual Art & Design, Department of Communication, Department of English and Department of Performing Arts.
• Faculty members teaching these classes all have extensive experience making their own films and working in industry.

Careers:

• The film studies program prepares you for a wide range of media careers, including roles with local and national film and television production companies, advertising and marketing agencies, and film distribution companies.
• You’ll also be prepared to pursue a Master of Fine Arts and other graduate degrees.
