Occupational and Environmental Health and Safety
Program Overview
Weber State's Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies in Occupational and Environmental Health & Safety Designer program provides students with knowledge and skills in safety, health, and a minor of their choice. Through collaboration with the University of Utah, students access courses at both institutions and have opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration. The program prepares graduates for careers in safety management and risk reduction, and assists in obtaining intermediate certification as Graduate Safety Practitioners (GSP).

Weber State's occupational and environmental health & safety designer Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies program is intended to offer students the required knowledge and skills. The program is split into three areas in the BIS format:
Safety:
Six courses taken through Weber State but designed by the University in Utah, available in the fall/spring semesters beginning in 2023.
Health,
the courses for this area of concentration are currently under development for the program Students may also choose
any minor
within the BIS program at their choosing. In connection with the University of Utah, Weber State provides courses inOEHS
under its BIS program. With the collaboration effort, students can access classes at Weber State and the U of U while also having the opportunity through this interdisciplinary collaboration program for collaboration with other individuals who are also enrolled in the program.Careers:
Weber State's program prepares students, enabling them to manage, as well as execute, programs dedicated to promoting safety in the occupational setting and limiting or removing related risks. Our program's graduating students will be ready to start their careers in businesses, academia, governmental departments, and non - profit organizations. Also, graduates from this program can continue pursuing a master's or doctoral degree focused on one of the following:
- Industrial Safety
- Prevention of Occupational Injuries
- Occupational Psychology
- Occupational Medicine
