Program Overview
Sport Management Program
The Western Michigan University sport management major is designed to prepare students to work in sport organizations at the interscholastic, intercollegiate, professional, and recreational levels. As a student in this program, you will take courses in many different departments within the University to gain the background required to enter the field of sport management. This program requires a minor in coaching, communication, event management, general business, journalism, or another related minor with faculty approval.
Program Requirements
- A supervised practicum of 225 hours is required to allow students to get a feeling for the field.
- Upon completion of coursework, a 600-hour internship is required, which may be completed in Kalamazoo or with any sport organization in the world.
