Program Overview

The Technical Theater Proficiency Certificate is a 14-credit program that provides foundational skills in theater construction and design. Through hands-on experience, students learn essential techniques in set building, painting, lighting, sound, and theatrical design elements. The program prepares students for backstage work in theater and film industries, provides a basis for further studies, and equips graduates with skills for careers in the entertainment industry. Graduates may pursue careers as media technical directors/managers, set and exhibit designers, producers, and directors.
