  • The Certificate of Higher Education in Basic Audiological Practice program is an 18-month part-time modular course.
  • It is aimed at individuals currently employed within the NHS as an Assistant or Associate Audiologist who are nominated by their Head of Service.
  • Throughout the course, students will gain the knowledge and understanding required to practice at Associate/Assistant level in a hospital Audiology Department, supporting quantitative assessment and management of patients with hearing-related problems.
  • Students will learn how to assess hearing capacity, and the clinical nature of the course will provide the practical skills needed for employment in the profession.

  • The structure of the course is as follows:
  • University-based learning component will take place over 12 weeks in three blocks during the first 12 months of the course.
  • Students will attend their usual place of work for the work-based placement.

  • The course is assessed by unseen written examinations, written assignments and presentations, plus the completion of Clinical Learning Outcomes.

Teaching:
