Overview

The BSc Business Management (Modern Languages) with a Foundation Year degree is designed for students who do not meet the entry requirements for the BSc Business Management (Modern Languages) course. The Foundation Year is an excellent pathway to gaining the required knowledge and skills in business management, before joining Year 1 students of the BSc Business Management (Modern Languages) degree.

Course Overview

The course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of business management and modern languages. Students will explore concepts within modern languages, including taster sessions in Year 1, and select one language as their focus in their second and third years of studies. The course modules are designed to ensure students have a well-rounded understanding of how a business and modern language functions ahead of joining the world of work.

  • Year 1 (Level 4): Accounting for Managers, Managing People, Key Skills for Business, Introduction to Studying Languages for Business Students, Operations Management, The Global Context of Organisation, Managing in the Digital Age.
  • Year 2 (Level 5): Economics for Business, Strategic Analysis, Language Options (Beginners' French, German, Italian, Spanish, Mandarin), Business Options (Corporate Governance and Ethics, Digital Marketing, Change Management, Information Systems, Organisational Behaviour, Management Science).
  • Year 3 (Level 6): Final Year Project, Business Options (International Human Resource Management, Power and Organisation, Innovation Management, Project Management, Lean Operations, Data Mining, Application Development, Strategic Implementation), Language Options (Intermediate French, German, Italian, Spanish, Mandarin).
