Civil Engineering, BEng (Hons)

The Civil Engineering, BEng (Hons) program at Swansea University is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in the design and analysis of civil engineering structures. The program is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators (Institution of Structural Engineers, Institution of Civil Engineers, Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation, Institute of Highway Engineers, and the Permanent Way Institution) as fully satisfying the requirements for Incorporated Engineer and partially satisfying the requirements for Chartered Engineer (CEng).

Course Overview

Civil engineers play a crucial role in designing and developing the built environment, including bridges, tunnels, transport systems, buildings, and flood defenses. Entry Requirements

  • A-level: ABB-BCC, including Grade B in Maths
  • BTEC: DDD, including Distinctions in Engineering Principles and Further Engineering Mathematics units
  • UK Access: 33 Distinctions (including all Maths modules), 9 Merits, and 3 credits at Level 3
  • T Levels: Distinction and Grade B in A-level Maths
  • Mixed Qualifications: 120 UCAS tariff points from 3 highest scoring qualifications, including 40 UCAS tariff points in A-level Maths
  • International Baccalaureate: 32 points, including 5 at Higher Level or 6 at Standard Level in "Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches" or 32 points overall with 5 at Higher Level or 7 at Standard Level in "Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation"
