Master of Communication Studies
The Master of Communication Studies is a postgraduate program designed to equip students with advanced knowledge and skills in communication studies. The program offers two specializations: Communication Leadership and Media Innovation.
Program Overview
The Master of Communication Studies is a 1.5-year full-time program that consists of 180 points. The program is offered at the City Campus, and classes are usually taught in the evening, with one Saturday workshop per course.
Specializations
The program offers two specializations:
- Communication Leadership: This specialization develops the skills to lead through effective communication in times of crisis and beyond. Students learn to develop advanced strategies for addressing complex societal issues, use digital media technologies, guide communication with diverse groups, and implement value-informed, regenerative communication practices.
- Media Innovation: This specialization equips students to lead in today's dynamic media landscape, focusing on digital communication and innovation across the media ecosystem. Students explore transmedia formats, cross-platform strategies, and transdisciplinary approaches, while developing practical skills to manage and strengthen innovation in the creative economy.

Research Dissertation
The research dissertation is a core component of the program, where students work with experienced supervisors to design and develop their research. Many students produce a creative component as part of their research, such as a screenplay, digital media artifact, radio program, or public relations campaign.
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for the program, students must have completed a bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification with a B grade average or higher in level 7 courses. International students must also meet the English language requirements, with an IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 overall, with all bands at 6 or higher.
Fees
The fees for the program are as follows:
- Domestic students: $11,851.60 (for 120 points), consisting of $10,630 tuition fees and $1,221.60 student services levy
- International students: $41,921.60 (for 120 points), consisting of $40,700 tuition fees and $1,221.60 student services levy
