Entry Requirements

Minimum Entry Requirements

• Must have completed a bachelor's degree with a B grade average or higher in courses at level 7

Other Requirements

• May be required to attend a selection interview
• Must be capable of meeting the Children's Act (CA 2018) requirements, including police clearance
• Admission is subject to the approval of the programme leader
• Must be able to travel to clinical placements
• Immunisations must be current
• Have bystander CPR

International Student Entry Requirements

• English language requirements: IELTS (Academic) 6.5 overall with no band less than 6.5

What You Study

You need a total of 240 points to complete the Master of Nursing Science.
Courses are taught at the AUT South Campus. Clinical placements can take place throughout Auckland.

Year 1

You complete a total of 120 points.

• Semester 1 courses:
  • NURS841 Integrative Practice I (45 points)
  • HEAL802 Applied Pathophysiology (15 points)
• Semester 2 courses:
  • NURS842 Integrative Practice II (45 points)
  • HEAL865 Health Research Design & Planning (15 points)

Year 2

You complete a total of 120 points.

• Full-year course:
  • NURS987 Transition Practicum (60 points)
• And complete the following courses:
  • Semester 3 courses:
    • NURS843 Integrative Practice III (30 points)
    • PHMY802 Applied Pharmacotherapeutics (15 points)
  • Semester 4 courses:
    • NURS844 Practical Leadership in Health Professional Practice (15 points)
