The Business and Law Accelerated Program is a six-year program that allows students to earn both a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Juris Doctor degree. The Business and Law Accelerated Program is a collaborative program between the Collins College of Business and the College of Law that allows students to complete both their undergraduate and Juris Doctor (J.D.) degrees in six years. The program is designed to prepare students for a career in law by providing them with a strong foundation in both business and legal principles. Upon completion of the program, students will earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (B.S.B.A.) degree with a major in Business and Law. Students who complete the program will be well-prepared for a career in law, business, or a related field.


Outline:

The Business and Law Accelerated Program consists of 12 hours of upper-level business electives and 31 hours of required law courses. The law courses include:

  • LAW 5101 Dean’s Seminar on the Legal Profession

Assessment:

Students in the Business and Law Accelerated Program will be assessed on their coursework, exams, and participation in class. Students will also be required to complete a research paper and a capstone project.

Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements:

  • A 3.2 undergraduate cumulative grade point average at the time of review
  • Comportment in a manner consistent with the expectations of the legal profession
  • Preference given to candidates whose LSAT score is equal to, or greater than, the 25th percentile LSAT score of the most recent entering class in the College of Law
  • Thorough completion of application forms and submission of all supporting documentation in a timely manner
  • An applicant should demonstrate the potential to be a successful law student through their level of achievement in a rigorous curriculum.
  • Applicants should have clear goals and be motivated to progress at an accelerated pace.

Additional Notes:

  • Applicants to this program must apply a year in advance of when they hope to begin law school (if admitted).
  • The accepted candidate must have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.2 at conclusion of undergraduate coursework and prior to matriculation in the College of Law.
  • The accepted candidate must maintain comportment in a manner consistent with the expectations of the legal profession.
  • The accepted candidate must remain in good standing with The University of Tulsa.
  • The accepted candidate must arrange for updated transcripts (see above) to be sent to LSAC and the College of Law prior to law school matriculation.
  • Failure to comply with any of the above requirements and conditions will result in the revocation of admission to the accelerated law program.
