Program Overview

This theatre program offers a comprehensive curriculum with core courses in performance, design, and theatre history. Students can specialize in Performance/Directing or Design/Technology tracks. Hands-on education, small class sizes, and collaboration with theatre professionals prepare students for careers in theatre and beyond, including acting, directing, design, stage management, and non-theatre fields.

• Core Courses: 33 credits covering performance, design, directing, technical theatre, analysis, theatre history, and dramatic literature.
• Performance/Directing Track: Focus on acting and directing.
• Design/Technology Track: Focus on stage management, costume, electrics, lighting, props, scenic, and sound design.
• Special Topics Courses: Offered on a rotating schedule based on student interest, including playwriting, acting for the camera, scene painting, millinery & costume crafts, stage combat, stage management, and auditioning.

Teaching:

• Hands-on education with involvement in productions from the first semester.
• Studio theatre classes limited to 12 students for individualized attention.
• Theatre professionals from the community hired as adjuncts for direct collaboration.

Careers:

• Acting in productions worldwide.
• Work on productions as a director, designer, technician, or stage manager.
• Graduate school.
• Theatre teaching.
• Starting a theatre company.
• Non-theater careers in law, medicine, event planning/management, or nonprofit management.
