Mechanical Engineering Degree

The University of Mount Union offers a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree, a four-year, interdisciplinary program accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. This program provides hands-on experiences and internship opportunities throughout the undergraduate career.


Program Overview

The mechanical engineering major at Mount Union offers a comprehensive education that prepares students for meaningful work in various industries. Specialized courses, such as Product Design and Development and Fatigue and Fracture Analysis, help students develop a skill set that transfers from the classroom to the field.


Curriculum

The curriculum is taught by outstanding engineering faculty with expertise in mechanical engineering. It starts with general education courses in chemistry, physics, calculus, and an overall view of the engineering profession, as well as analysis and design. Throughout the years at Mount Union, students engage in a dynamic curriculum strongly focused on real-world application, gaining hands-on experience through a required international experience in the field and the engineering capstone design course.

Mission

The mission of the mechanical engineering program is to provide a comprehensive, rigorous, hands-on engineering education in a quality and conducive learning environment, providing students with the skills and competencies necessary for employment or career advancement as mechanical engineers.
