The University of Mount Union's post-baccalaureate Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is designed for adults who hold a previous bachelor's degree in any subject. This accelerated BSN program uses state-of-the-art nursing facilities and hands-on clinical environments to equip students for a nursing career in just 15 months.

ABSN Program Courses

• The Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) curriculum is a 72-credit-hour, 15-month program that includes a sequence of clinical and non-clinical courses (excluding any prerequisite courses needed).
• The BSN curriculum is based on standards of nursing education from professional organizations, accreditation standards, state boards of nursing, and changing societal needs related to healthcare.
• The curriculum reflects a commitment to evidence-based nursing practice for individuals, families, and communities that is grounded in an understanding of societal factors that influence health status and the delivery of healthcare.

Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing (BSN) Degree Program Learning Outcomes

The University of Mount Union's undergraduate nursing major is a comprehensive program that will culminate in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree and allow students to take the National Council Licensing Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). Graduates of the BSN program will:

Accelerated BSN Admission Requirements

Applicants need to meet the following requirements to be considered for admission:

1. Hold a Baccalaureate degree in a discipline other than nursing from an accredited higher education institution.
2. A cumulative Baccalaureate degree grade point average of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0.
3. Complete the following courses or equivalent courses within the last five years:

• BIO 210 | Anatomy & Physiology I with Lab
• BIO 211 | Anatomy & Physiology II with Lab
• BIO 200 | Microbiology with Lab
• CHE 110 | Foundations of Chemistry with Lab
• MTH 123 | Elementary Statistics

4. Earned a 2.75 or better in the following courses BIO 200, BIO 210, BIO 211, CHE 110, and have earned a grade of "C" or higher in all courses above.

ESL Requirements

• 6.5 on IELTS/ 80 on TOEFL/105 on Duolingo: Direct Entry Admission with no required English as a Second Language courses required. Highly recommend a two-credit medical terminology course during the first semester.
• 6.0 on IELTS (IELTS scores are in .5 increments, so the next level up is 6.5; no range needed here)/ 70 – 78 on TOEFL/ 95-100 on Duolingo (Duolingo scores are in 5 point increments, so the next level up is 105): Provisional nursing student and required to complete two English as a Second Language (ESL) courses and a two-credit medical terminology course. No nursing courses or prerequisite science courses can be taken until both ESL courses or the medical terminology are completed with a grade of C or higher.
• 5.5 on IELTS/ 61 – 69 on TOEFL/ 85-90 on Duolingo (minimum university requirements): Provisional nursing student and required to complete two English as a Second Language (ESL) courses and a two-credit medical terminology course. No nursing courses or prerequisite science courses can be taken until both ESL courses and the medical terminology are completed with a grade of C or higher.

Accelerated BSN Cost and Tuition

• The program offers a comprehensive nursing education at an affordable cost—and its 72 credit hours can be completed in as little as 15 months (excluding any co/prerequisite courses needed).
• Cost per credit hour: $500
• Fees:
  • Technology fee (per term/session): $250
  • Program fee (per term/session): $325
  • Parking fee (per year in terms 1, 4 and 7): $100
  • Graduation fee (one time in fall term prior to graduation): $100
• Other expenses to be considered include housing and travel. Students are responsible for costs associated with housing, as well as housing and travel while involved in clinical education affiliations.

Accreditation

• The baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
• The program's last site visit was November 2020. CCNE granted accreditation to the BSN program at the University of Mount Union for ten years. The next site visit will be Fall 2030.
• The baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) program at the University of Mount Union is fully approved by the Ohio Board of Nursing (OBN) in accordance with Rule 4723.06 (A)(5), of the Ohio Revised Code for a period of five years effective May 25, 2022. The next site visit will be in the spring of 2027.
