Created in response to the rapid growth in the use of information systems and eBusiness applications by businesses and governments internationally, Deakin’s Master of Information Systems enables you to develop specialist skills in digital transformation, eBusiness and business-oriented principles and practices of information systems.
Objectives:
- Develop specialist skills in digital transformation, eBusiness, and business-oriented principles and practices of information systems.
- Gain a sound technical understanding in specific areas of information systems, particularly information security, supply chain management, and project management.
- Learn about the principles and practices of stakeholder analysis, identification of business needs, problems, and opportunities, analysis, negotiation, and specification of requirements for any solution that may involve technology-inspired change.
- Complement your primary studies in information systems with a specialization in a wide range of business-related fields (e.g., AI strategy and management or business analytics).
Outline:
The Master of Information Systems is typically 8, 12 or 16 credit points. The exact number of credit points you study depends on how much credit you receive as recognition of prior learning (RPL) – your professional experience and previous qualifications – which can save you time and money.
Program Structure:
For students undertaking 16 credit points, you study 12 credit points of core units (2 of which must be selected from a specified list), plus completion of the compulsory 0-credit point unit, MAI010 Academic Integrity and 4 credit points of elective units, which may be selected from a faculty wide specialization, a selected list of units or any postgraduate units offered by the University, subject to eligibility. Students are introduced to research tools and techniques in core units of the course where they learn analytic skills and the practical application of those skills in professional contexts. They must also complete a capstone unit that requires requiring them to integrate the skills learnt over their course of study and produce an applied piece of research with reference to prevailing literature.
