Program Overview


The Motive Power Fundamentals program equips students with the skills to diagnose and resolve automotive system issues. Through hands-on practice and industry partnerships, students develop expertise in component inspection, diagnostic equipment use, and safe work practices. Upon completion, they receive Level 1 apprenticeship training and an electric vehicle course, preparing them for entry-level roles in the automotive industry or further education.

The Motive Power Fundamentals program prepares students for employment in various automotive settings, including dealerships, service and repair shops, and retail stores. The program focuses on developing skills in identifying and resolving basic motive power system problems, inspecting and testing components and systems, and using diagnostic equipment. Additionally, students learn safe work practices, customer service skills, and basic communication, documentation, information technology, and computer skills relevant to the motive power industry. Upon completion, students receive Level 1 in-school apprenticeship training and an electric vehicle course, allowing them to enter the workforce or continue their education in Centennial's Automotive Motive Power diploma program.
