Degree Overview:

The MBA International Healthcare Management is designed for working healthcare professionals (physicians, surgeons, nurses, allied health, research positions in hospitals, etc.) as well as those working in the healthcare industry (insurance, medtech, pharma, consulting, etc.) to provide them with a thorough understanding of the international healthcare business. The program aims to train responsible healthcare leaders and to equip them with practical business skills, advanced entrepreneurial attainments, leadership expertise, and integrity, intercultural competencies in order to master the challenges of a globalised healthcare sector. It fosters an enhanced awareness of healthcare issues, trends, and practices likely to influence the future. International study locations in Europe, America, and Asia, and a diverse student body ensures a truly global experience.

The MBA International Healthcare Management is a 20-month, part-time program consisting of 10 modules.


PART-TIME STUDY, FULL-TIME WORK

In 10 modules (20 months), each residential module lasts one week in length, the participants gain an academic and real-world foundation relevant for a career in the healthcare sector whilst working full time. The balance between on- and off-campus learning, ensures minimal disruption to participants' professional lives.

Module 1 Shape the Future: Healthcare Systems, Economics and Accounting

Location: Frankfurt, Germany at Frankfurt School of Finance and Management This module gives an overview of the main and basic types of healthcare systems and the underlying dimensions. A comprehensive introduction to the German Healthcare System serves as the basis and role model for comparing different systems and to foster discussions.


Module 2 Analyse the Business: Financial Management and Controlling

Location: Frankfurt, Germany at Frankfurt School of Finance and Management Building on the financial accounting introduced in module 1, this module introduces the most important financial management tools, available financing instruments, cost accounting and management systems, and performance controlling.


Module 3 Identify Value: Strategy and Marketing

Location: Bangalore, India This module focuses on the most important elements of Strategic Planning and Market Oriented Management and enables students to use scientific methods of market analysis and development to create substantial market-oriented strategies and tactical approaches.


Module 4 Create Value: Innovation and Project Management

Location: Baltimore, USA at the John Hopkins University Carey Business School The module contains tailor-made lectures taught by experienced senior faculty at John Hopkins University. This module focuses on innovation management, analysing real examples of innovations in healthcare products and services, as well as providing up-to-date status and trends of the US healthcare system.


Module 5 Entrepreneurship & Management in Competitive Markets

Location: online In this module, participants will develop a business plan for a real investment project. In addition, based on the MarkStrat Online simulation game participants learn how to use management tools in the area of strategic marketing and portfolio management in a problem-oriented and effective way.


Module 6 Manage Processes: Quality and Value Chain Management

Location: Singapore at the National University of Singapore Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine This module focuses on the basic principles of Quality and Risk Management, Business Process Management, Six Sigma, and Approaches of Integrated Healthcare Value Chains.


Module 7 Manage Resources: Materials, Infrastructure and Digitalisation

Location: London, United Kingdom at the Imperial College London This module, being conducted at the Imperial College London, addresses the flow of tangible goods within an organisation, taking into account the specifics of a healthcare environment. Students are introduced to logistics, purchasing, and facility management. The key role of how IT is becoming a transformational force in healthcare is also at the forefront of this module.


Module 8 Create Relationships:Leadership, Human Resources, and Intercultural Management

Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre Being at the forefront of innovation and change, the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre provides a unique module on encouraging organizational transformation and human resource in a cross-cultural environment, focusing on how healthcare organisations operate in the Middle East.


Module 9 Ethical Decision Making and Driving Change: Health Technology Assessment, Ethics and Change Management

Location: Frankfurt, Germany at Frankfurt School of Finance and Management This module consists of three parts related to the role individuals play in an organisation: Leadership, Intercultural Management, and Ethics. On successful completion of this module, students get a comprehensive understanding of theories and principles in the relevant fields of their management and leadership environment. Students are then able to take responsibility for their style of leadership, for successful intercultural teamwork and carry out balanced decisions.


Module 10 MBA Thesis

The culmination of the MBA programme is the Master's Thesis.

  • Once you are admitted, we ask you to make a tuition fee deposit to secure your place in the programme. The remaining fees are usually due in regular instalments at the beginning of each semester. Should you decide to opt for a full upfront payment, you will receive a 5% reduction in tuition fees (excluding discounts). Please note that the tuition fee's exclude any additional costs i.e. travel expenses, hotel costs for modules abroad.
