Art (BAS)

Program Overview

The Bachelor of Arts in Art (BAS) is a Professional Studies Degree designed for adult learners. It combines core coursework in English, history, and science with a focus on fine arts. Students can choose from a variety of art electives to tailor their degree to their interests. The program requires a minimum of 12 credit hours in art electives in residence at Dallas Baptist University, 9 of which must be upper-level.

History

• World Civilization I

Kinesiology

• Fitness for Living
• One additional activity course (KNES 1102-1122); for veterans or those 25 years of age or older prior to enrollment at DBU, KNES courses are waived

Mathematics

• Choose one:
• Math for Liberal Arts
• College Algebra
• Trigonometry
• Finite Math for Business Analysis
• Calculus for Business Analysis
• Calculus and Analytic Geometry I

Natural Science

• One laboratory science from Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Geology, Physical Science, or Physics

Religion

• Old Testament Survey
• New Testament Survey
• Six additional RELI hours

Social Science

• American National Government
• Three additional credit hours may be selected from Economics, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, or Sociology.

Art Major

• The Arts and the Creative Process
• Studio Research
• 24 additional hours in art electives, 9 of which must be upper level.
• Minimum of 12 credit hours in major in residence at Dallas Baptist University, 9 credit hours of which must be upper-level.
