Overview

The Post Diploma in Information Technology (PDIT) is a 10-course, 30-credit program that enables students to complete Information Technology courses linked to industry certifications and address both immediate and future workforce needs.

Admissions Requirement

  1. Recognized diploma or degree in a relevant career area or completion of 90 credits in a relevant career area from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  2. Be at least 19 years of age or older at the start of the program.
  3. Meet one of the options below where English is a principal language:
    • Option 1: Completion of 2 years of full-time post-secondary education from a recognized institution where English is the language of instruction.
    • Option 2: Provide verified results for one of the English language proficiency tests listed below.
      • IELTS (Academic): Minimum overall score of 6.0
      • TOEFL IBT: Minimum overall score of 68
      • Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP) General: 7.0
      • Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Test: 50
      • Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: 46
      • Duolingo English Test (DET): 105
      • Cambridge English Qualifications: B2 First Exam (FCE): Minimum overall score of 160 or “C”
      • Cambridge Linguaskill: Minimum overall B2 Level
      • LANGAGECERT Academic: Minimum overall B2 level
      • The Michigan English Test (MET): Minimum overall B2 level
      • ITEP Academic: Minimum overall score of 3.5
      • EIKEN: Minimum placement of Grade Pre-1

Mature Student Applicants

  • Applicant is 19 years or older at the start of the program and is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident who cannot access their educational records or provide sufficient evidence of secondary or post-secondary education as outlined above.
  • Applicant provides attestation that they have completed at least three years of full-time instruction in English in a country where English is one of the principal languages.
  • Applicant completes an Accuplacer English Assessment (Next Generation: Reading, Writing, and WritePlacer) and achieves the following minimum scores:
    • Reading: 235
    • Writing: 235
    • WritePlacer: 4

Required Curriculum

  • The Post Diploma in Information Technology is a 10-course, 600-hour, 30-credit program that can be completed in 30 weeks via in-class and/or online instruction.
  • The 10-course PDIT program is efficiently delivered over the course of two semesters.

Graduation Requirement

  • To graduate from this program, students must complete all program requirements, including:
    1. Complete a minimum of 30 credits.
    2. Attend at least 75% of program lectures/classes.
    3. Pass each individual course with 50% or higher.
    4. Achieve a minimum program 2.50 AGPA.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this program, the successful student will have reliably demonstrated the ability to:


  • Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in analyzing computing system problems and in applying principles from various technical disciplines to provide solutions.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how to design, implement, and evaluate a range of computing-based solutions that meet specific requirements within the IT field.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of database management, programming, cloud service, and deployment models, as well as identity and access management in the cloud.
  • Demonstrate an ability to clearly and effectively communicate information technology-related results and information to a diverse organizational audience.
  • Discuss project management principles and acquire the knowledge needed to earn CompTIA A+ (Hardware/Software) and Amazon Web Services (AWS) certifications.
