Program Overview

The Court Reporting and Captioning program prepares students for careers as court reporters, captioners, and word-for-word translators for the deaf and hard-of-hearing. The program includes coursework in stenography, court reporting procedures, legal terminology, English grammar and usage, captioning, and deaf culture. Graduates are prepared to capture speech with near complete accuracy, transcribe court proceedings, provide real-time captioning, and provide word-for-word translation.
