The Cabinetmaking and Millwork program at Madison College is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of modern woodworking techniques. It prepares individuals for careers as cabinetmakers, finish carpenters, architectural woodworkers, finishing specialists, fixtures manufacturers, and CAD/CAM operators. With additional education or experience, graduates may also qualify for roles as master carpenters, shop supervisors, or journey-level finish carpenters. The program's objectives include:

  • Building knowledge and skills in planning and completing cabinetry, furniture, and millwork projects
  • Understanding the fundamentals of working with wood, from planning to finishing
  • Learning to work with prints, specifications, and shop drawings
  • Selecting proper materials, determining procedures, manufacturing parts, and assembling and finishing projects
  • Planning and processing wood efficiently using traditional woodworking equipment and hand tools, as well as the latest CNC machinery and software
  • Gaining practical experience through partnerships with area businesses and local and state agencies
  • Working independently and in teams to execute woodworking projects
