Program Overview

The Cosmetology Apprenticeship program at Madison College offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of cosmetology while earning a salary. The program is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to become a licensed cosmetologist.

Curriculum and Experience

The program consists of four semesters of Cosmetology Related Theory, with classes held four-and-a-half hours per week. Students will also complete 4,000 hours of paid training in a salon setting.


First Semester

  • Trichology, Bacteriology, Sterilization and Sanitation (2 credits)

Second Semester

  • Hair Cutting, Design and Chemical Services (2 credits)

Third Semester

  • Advanced Chemical Services and Salon Business (2 credits)

Fourth Semester

  • Facial Anatomy, Skin & Nail Care, and State Regulations (2 credits)

Admission

To apply for the Cosmetology Apprenticeship program, students must find a sponsoring employer and complete an apprenticeship contract with the Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards (BAS). Students will then be admitted to the program and invited to an orientation meeting.
