Program Overview


Program Overview

The Electrical Engineering Technology program at Madison College will provide you with the skills you need for a variety of in-demand jobs related to electrical engineering. As an Electrical Engineering Technology student, you will:


  • Learn to analyze complex problems and develop solutions
  • Build strong math and analytical skills
  • Utilize electronics terminology, schematic symbols and electronic standards
  • Assemble circuits from schematics, wiring diagrams and/or specifications
  • Define the math parameters of alternating current (AC) signals
  • Derive simplified equivalent circuits for basic AC circuits
  • Explain the basic characteristics of a differential transistor and operational amplifiers
  • Interface digital to field devices and determine functions of electronic memory
  • Create clocked logic circuits to drive encoders, decoders and multiplexer systems
  • Build microcontrollers/microprocessors and embedded systems architecture
  • Implement serial and parallel communications

Transfer Options

Electrical Engineering Technology graduates can transfer as a junior into the Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering program at Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE). Additional transfer pathways include transfer into a Bachelor of Science in Physics at Edgewood College and into the UW-Platteville Electrical Engineering major through the UW-Platteville Engineering Partnership.
