Program Overview
The IT Web Software Developer associate degree program at Madison College prepares students for employment as entry-level web developers. The program focuses on object-oriented programming (OOP) and covers essential skills in HTML, CSS, Java, PHP, C#, and JavaScript.
Program Goals
The Web Software Developer program teaches the fundamentals of object-oriented programming for traditional web development used in multi-page apps. The program goals include:
- Writing moderately complex web applications using current enterprise Java
- Writing complex web applications using current JavaScript
- Designing and implementing relational databases and processing data using SQL
- Performing entry-level analysis and design to build user-centric applications
- Building responsive and accessible websites using HTML and CSS
- Demonstrating an understanding of the ever-changing IT field and its job roles with emphasis on IT security as it applies to development
- Working as an ethical and reliable team member using software collaboration tools

Admission
To apply, students must submit an admission application, official transcripts, and meet the education completion requirements. The application deadlines are August 31 for the fall semester and January 15 for the spring semester.
Transfer Opportunities
Madison College has transfer agreements with several universities, including UW Oshkosh, UW Stout, UW Whitewater, Concordia University, Edgewood College, Lakeland University, Milwaukee School of Engineering, and Wisconsin Lutheran College.
Career Outcomes
Graduates of the Web Software Developer program can find employment as entry-level web developers. With additional education and/or work experience, they may find employment as web software engineers or web architects.
