Program Overview
Madison College and the nursing faculty value the education and experience you've gained as a paramedic. If you wish to advance your education to become a registered nurse, you may be eligible to apply to the Nursing Completion: Paramedic to Associate Degree Nursing program. After completing the required Paramedic to RN Bridge courses, you'll enter into the third semester of the Associate Degree Nursing program curriculum.

Admission
To Apply
Students need to complete the petition process to get into core-program classes for this program. Before submitting an application, it's essential to review the Petition Process webpage, which also includes estimated wait times for each program.

- The next semester students can petition for core courses is Fall 2025.
- The priority petition window is June 1 – 15, 2025.
- Historically, the estimated wait time to enter the core program was 0-1 years.

Students are required to meet the current admission and petition requirements. Requirements are subject to change based on updates to accreditation requirements or Madison College program assessment data.

After Admission (Petition Requirements)
Run a Degree Progress Report to confirm which pre-program requirements are satisfied
ot satisfied and specific ways to satisfy requirements.
Complete the Petition Requirements for Paramedic to ADN. Courses must be completed with a grade of C or better. A grade of C- will not be accepted.
- Mandatory workshop in Brightspace
- Prerequisites:
- Chemistry (high school or college coursework)
- Course Requirements:
- English 1 or Written Communication
- Anatomy and Physiology (two courses)
- Microbiology or General Microbiology
- Intro Psychology
- Developmental Psychology
- Elective (5 credits)
- Employment Requirement:
- Students must be able to provide employment verification that includes at least six months of full-time experience as a licensed paramedic using the Employment Verification Form (PDF, 433KB). Students must complete this form and submit it to the Nursing Program.
Petitioning
This program petitions for entry into the following term:

Paramedic Bridge Courses and Licensure Requirements
- Students complete Skills and Clinical courses at Madison College.
- Theory courses can be completed at either Northwest Technical College or Mid-State Technical College.
After Petitioning
If awarded a seat, you will receive instructions regarding the below required items. If you do not complete the required items, it may result in losing your seat and starting the application process from the beginning. Please view the Health and Nursing Programs Policies for more information.
