This programme is designed to teach a variety of skills relevant to the world of international communication to help students develop a greater range of vocabulary for everyday situations in a cross-cultural society.

Course Information
What you will study
- Use key language through case studies involving real-life scenarios to give learners a chance to put into practice what they have learnt.
- Develop skills in communicating more effectively in a range of every day situations such as interview skills, presentation skills, note taking skills, meeting skills, socialising
etworking, correspondence, report and email writing as well as reading skimming and scanning skills. - Express opinions and handle discussions more confidently, as well as use key language more effectively.
How you will learn
- In Class: Guided workshops involving the development and practical application of a particular language point or core skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking.
- Outside of Class: Supervised fieldwork – carrying out tasked based activities externally to activate target language.
- Self-study includes:
- 2 presentations – talks on a particular topic and using language points covered in lectures.
- Guided independent learning – private study/research.
Assessment
- Final assessment includes 4 components:
- Written – email or report
- Reading comprehension
- Listening comprehension
- Speaking assessment

- This programme offers both variety and flexibility, ensuring that the learning and assessment activities are relevant and of value for future progression.
- Throughout this programme learners are continuously and actively involved in all teaching methods including:
- Lectures
- Hands-on activities
- Seminar
- Workshops
- Enquiry-based learning
Teaching, Learning and Assessment Procedures
- Lectures and other teaching methods are delivered interactively, with discussion sessions and tutorials in the form of hands-on and problem-solving activities building on the relevant academic study skills including concepts and practices.
- These activities help learners to use different research and online tools.
- Learners are asked to reflect on the tools and activities, inviting discussions with regards to their own knowledge and skill and adapt these tools to their current situations and contexts.
- Feedback is given where appropriate throughout the course.
- Learners are also introduced to appropriate websites and other related material for further development of their knowledge and skills.
Grading System
- Grading will be based on – Pass – Merit – and Distinction.
- Resits will be permitted for each respected assignment and module.
- No more than two resits are permitted to the student and the grading will be only a Pass.
Entry Requirement
- The course is designed for non-native English speakers who must provide evidence that they are competent in the English Language at minimum CEFR Level B1 from a recognised English language school.
