About Program

Program Overview

The Robotics and Intelligent Systems program at this university provides students with a comprehensive understanding of autonomous mobile systems development. Through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical experience, graduates gain expertise in creating and implementing self-driving systems, preparing them for careers in industries such as automotive, transportation, and information technology. The program emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach, allowing students to tailor their education to their interests and career goals.

Program Outline

Degree Overview:

This program (Robotics and Intelligent Systems) focuses on methods and technologies fundamental in autonomous mobile systems development, like robots that function independently without external supervision. In robotics and automation settings, these methods and technologies are used. Industries that use this knowledge extensively are: automotive and other forms of transportation, information and communication methods, oceanography, etc. This program also explores mobility's multifaceted nature in natural systems that are intelligent. Through cutting-edge experimental lab work, you will get practical experience using state-of-the-art technology and approaches. All in all, graduates from this program will gain thorough training in creating and implementing self-driving, mobile systems, getting them ready for exciting and expanding employment prospects.

Outline:

The undergraduate program in

Robotics and Intelligent Systems (RIS)

spans three years, comprising 180 credit points. It prepares students for diverse career options. The program's foundation is the "4C Model," with the content of each discipline categorized into three themes based on year of study: CHOICE-CORE-CAREER. Supplementing this is the “CONSTRUCTOR Track,” an essential element of the program, running concurrently throughout the study period, equipping students with multidisciplinary knowledge and critical skills, such as communication, data visualization, problem-solving, etc. This curriculum allows students to explore different fields of study while tailoring their education to personal objectives. They have the leeway to adjust their major (within the first year) and pursue a minor. Practical components like internships and study abroad programs in the fifth semester provide real-world insights and global perspectives.

Year 1

Introductory modules (totaling 45 credit points) from the CHOICE area form the core of the first year's coursework at RIS. Based on the default plan, RIS students (after their first semester) may consider switching their major to Electrical Engineering (ECE), Physics (PHYS), or Computer Science (CS) by the beginning of their second year. Year 1, Discipline-specific Modules:

CHOICE Module: Introduction to Robotics and Intelligent Systems

(7.5 CP)

CHOICE Module: Programming in C and C++

(7.5 CP)

CHOICE Module: Algorithms and Data Structures

(7.5 CP)

CHOICE Module: Introduction to Computer Science

(7.5 CP)

CHOICE Module: Classical Physics

(7.5 CP)

CHOICE Module: General Electrical Engineering

(7.5 CP) The Introduction to Robotics and Intelligent Systems is foundational to intelligent systems. With Programming in C or C++ and Algorithms and Data Structures, students receive foundational knowledge in robotics, computer science, and electrical engineering.

Year 2

Students will choose a major and take in-depth CORE modules worth 45 credit points that provide critical understanding of core concepts, principles, and methodological approaches in their major, exposing them to cutting-edge industry knowledge and best practices. To specialize in Robotic and Intelligent Systems, students must accumulate 45 CP by completing obligatory and elective mandatory modules:

CORE Module: Robotics

(5 CP)

CORE Module: Machine Learning

(5 CP)

CORE Module: RIS Lab

(5 CP)

CORE Module: Automation

(5 CP)

CORE Module: Embedded Systems

(5 CP)

CORE Module: Control Systems

(5 CP)

CORE Module: Computer Vision

(5 CP)

CORE Module: Artificial Intelligence

(5 CP)

CORE Module: RIS Project

(5 CP) Elective CORE modules to complete the remaining 15 CP are available. Alternatively, you may opt to take all obligatory elective CORE modules or pursue a minor in Computer Science.

Year 3

Internships (two-month duration, usually between the second and third year) allow students to gain professional experience in a practical professional setup. They may also choose to focus on developing a business plan in place of a full-time internship. Students have an opportunity to broaden their global and academic horizons by studying abroad in the fifth semester. Students work on a Bachelor's thesis throughout their final semester to hone research skills. RIS students also take specialization modules (worth 15 credits) to broaden their knowledge: Specialization Modules available in Robotics and Intelligent Systems:

Specialization: Human Computer Interaction

(5 CP)

Specialization: Marine Robotics

(5 CP)

Specialization: Optimization

(5 CP) Modules from Computer Sciences:

Specialization: Distributed Algorithms

(5 CP)

Specialization: Computer Graphics

(5 CP)

Specialization: Web Application Development

(5 CP)

CORE Module: Software Engineering

(7.5 CP)

CORE Module: Databases and Web Services

(7.5 CP) Modules from Electrical and Computer Engineering:

Specialization: Digital Design

(5 CP)

CORE Module: PCB design and measurement automation

(5 CP)

CORE Module: Information Theory

(5 CP) Modules from Mathematics:

Specialization: Stochastic Processes
