Television, radio and social media content is evolving at a rapid pace and this program provides you with the knowledge and practical skills to succeed in this constantly evolving sector. Students in this program produce and publish rich, diverse content for a wide variety of live and pre-recorded platforms while mastering the use of social media for professional and personal broadcasting.

Admission Requirements

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or Mature Student Status
• Grade 12 English (C or U)

• Durham College (DC) offers pre-admission assessment testing to mature domestic applicants to meet admission requirements in English and/or math.
• DC also offers Academic Upgrading. Courses are FREE and designed to help you meet the admissions requirements for this program.

Tech Requirements

• A Mac notebook computer is recommended.
• macOS Mojave or later (bundled with new Apple notebook computer purchase)
• Microsoft Office for Mac (free offer from Microsoft Canada with a DC Mail account)

Field Placement

• Your learning experience is complemented by a seven-week field placement at the end of the fourth semester where you will gain real-world experience at a radio station, television station or other media company.

Experiential Learning

• As part of their program, Broadcasting - Radio and Contemporary Media students work directly with real industry clients, including not-for-profit and community organizations, on a variety of projects.
