General Arts and Science – Science and Engineering Preparation – Ontario Tech University
Overview
Designed for individuals interested in science and engineering programs at Ontario Tech University, this eight-month program strengthens the foundational science, math, and communications skills needed in the post-secondary environment. Students will refine essential academic skills and develop foundational knowledge in the areas of science, mathematics, and communication, which are necessary for admission into future post-secondary programs. Some General Arts and Science courses may also be transferable to other post-secondary programs. This pathway has the added benefit of helping students become better acquainted with post-secondary life, workload, and expectations.

Admission Requirements
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or Mature Student Status
- Grade 12 English (C or U)

Program Details
This pathway is specifically designed for individuals interested in pursuing science and engineering programs at Ontario Tech University. Students will have opportunities to refine their science, mathematics, and communications competencies as well as sharpen academic skillsets – foundational capabilities that are necessary for future academic success in various science and engineering-related fields. Some General Arts and Science courses may also be transferable to other post-secondary programs.
During this two-semester program, students will complete 13 courses, including Preparing for Academic Success, Communications, Computers, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Math.

Qualified graduates can apply to various science and engineering programs at Ontario Tech and may also be eligible to apply their academic credits towards further study through Durham College’s partnerships with many Canadian and international colleges and universities.
