Course Description

The objective of the OTHM Level 5 Extended Diploma in Business Management qualification is to provide learners with an excellent foundation for a career in a range of organisations. It is designed to ensure that each learner is ‘business ready’: a confident, independent thinker with a detailed knowledge of business and management, and equipped with the skills to adapt rapidly to change.

The content of the qualification is focused on people management, managing projects, marketing, finance for managers, business law, business ethics and social responsibility.

The qualification is ideal for those who have started, or are planning to move into, a career in private or public sector business. Successful completion of the Level 5 Extended Diploma in Business Management qualification will provide learners with the opportunity to progress to further study or employment.

The Level 4 modules and assignments of this course are equivalent to the first year of a University Degree and the Level 5 modules and assignments are equivalent to the second year of a University Degree.

This course is made up of 6 Level 4 modules (120 UK Credits / 60 ECTS) and 6 level 5 modules (120 UK Credits / 60 ECTS). Each level also includes 6 written assignments. If a student decides to only study at Level 4 they will receive 60 ECTS (120 UK credits) and can apply for an exemption from the first year of a university Degree course. Each module consists of approximately 80 guided learning hours of material with an additional 30-50 hours of optional learning material. These materials comprise recommended exercises, recommended readings and internet resources.

Eligibility

• To enrol onto the course, you must be at least 18 years of age and have a full secondary education.

Career Path

• Successful completion of the OTHM Level 5 Extended Diploma in Business Management allows students to continue for the final year of an accredited Undergraduate Degree programme, and will give students the right credentials to go on and apply for a Middle Management position.

Assessment

• The OTHM Level 5 Extended Diploma in Business Management has 6 modules and 6 written assignments at each level. On completion of the modules, students will be given the assignment questions. The assignments are approximately 2000 words each.
