Programme Overview
This course exposes learners to the factors which influence organisational behaviour and performance. In the first part of the course, learners shall become knowledgeable on organisational behaviour and gain understanding of what influences such behaviour. Moreover, learners shall become familiar with what influences the performance of an organisation. Lastly learners shall be able to examine the links between behaviour and performance.
Awarding Body & Accreditation
This qualification is awarded by eie Institute of Education and is accredited by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority (MFHEA). MFHEA deems this Award to be at MQF Level 6 (12 ECTS) of the Malta Qualifications Framework and the European Qualifications Framework for lifelong learning.

Competences
At the end of the course the learner will have acquired the responsibility and autonomy to:
- Monitor changes in the business environment and critically analyse how such changes impact the organisation
- Create effective plans to measure the performance of an organisation and improve such performance
- Be responsible for the implementation of the correct leadership styles depending on the situation at hand
Knowledge
At the end of the course the learner will have been exposed to the following:
- Critically analyse and discuss the characteristics which make up an organisation such as the mission, values, vision, strategy, systems, and processes
- Have in-depth knowledge of the different types of organisations available both in the public and in the private sector
- Critically assess different organisational structures such as functional, divisional, entrepreneurial, and matrix as well as the different management hierarchy
- Identify the potential uses of different leadership styles including concepts of power, delegation, accountability, and responsibility
- Critically assess the use of tools such as Porter’s Five Forces Analysis, PESTLE, SWOT and others in assessing the competitive environment
- Have knowledge of organisational behaviour and what influences such behaviour within organisation
- Analyse the link between organisational behaviour and improving job satisfaction and job performance
- Critically analyse the importance of carrying out effective performance management within organisations
- Examine the use of key performance indicators and critical success factors to measure the performance of an organisation
- Analyse theories of motivation in an organisational setting such as Maslow, Herzberg, McGregor and Vroom
Skills
At the end of the course the learner will have acquired the following skills:
- Apply various leadership styles depending on the situation and the requirements
- Use various models to improve the performance of the organisation and the employees
- Use tools such as PESTLE, SWOT and Porter’s Five Forces to critically analyse the competitive environment within which an organisation operates in
- Practice effective use of key performance indicators and critical success factors to measure organisational performance
Programme Structure
- Duration: 60 total lecture hours
- Fees: €1,800.00 (EU & Non-EU Nationals)
- Get Qualified Scheme: Upon Successful completion of this course, you will be able to recover (if eligible) up to 70% (through tax credits) of expenses on both the registration and tuition fees paid when starting the course.
Teaching Methodology
This course shall be taught with a student-centred approach whereby learners are encouraged to take active participation in their own learning. Learners shall be presented with PowerPoint presentations, case-study examples, and other interactive learning materials. Students will be asked to discuss and exchange communication amongst each other (classroom or online, as per learning mode chosen).
Assessment
This course shall be assessed with a presentation (10%), a report (80%) and a reflective journal (10%). The assignment has a word count limit of 2,000 words. Moreover, learners are expected to obtain a minimum of 50% of the total mark to successfully pass from the module.
