The Protection, Security and Investigation program is designed to introduce students to a diverse range of career options in law enforcement, offering a blend of academic and practical experience. A general level of fitness is required to successfully complete some of the program requirements.

- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or Mature Student Status

Durham College (DC) offers pre-admission assessment testing to mature domestic applicants to meet admission requirements in English and/or math. Domestic applicants that are 19 years of age or older as of the start date of their program, and who do not have the required program credit(s) i.e., Grade 12 English and/or Grade 12 math are eligible to take an admissions assessment test.

Qualified graduates can go on to take Durham College’s 911 Emergency and Call Centre Communications; Advanced Law Enforcement and Investigations; or Paralegal program.

Experiential Learning
As part of your second year of studies, you will register to take the PSIP 2000 – Field Placement for PSI course in your third or fourth semester. Your learning experience will require you to complete a one day/eight-hour shift in an industry-related occupation as well as complete a minimum of 20 volunteer hours working in access control at either Durham College or ONTech varsity events.
Required Documentation
Students will utilize our Learning Management System DCconnect to complete Ministry of Labour field placement training modules to obtain mandatory certifications and complete other placement-related forms, by the established due date.
