This program is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively utilize technology in the tourism and hospitality industry.
Programme Description
Technology holds an important role within the tourism and hospitality industry. It assists organisations in the industry with the everyday operations, as well as improving the overall customer experience. This leads for organisations in the industry to keep up with the most recent technologies and trends in technology. Technology has gained more important with the recent changes caused due to pandemic challenges and issues faced by tourism.
Awarding Body & Accreditation
This qualification is awarded by eie Institute of Education and is accredited by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority (MFHEA). MFHEA deems this Award to be at MQF Level 6 (12 ECTS) of the Malta Qualifications Framework and the European Qualifications Framework for lifelong learning.

At the end of the course, the learner will have acquired the responsibility and autonomy to:

- Have knowledge of the major technology applications which influence the tourism and hospitality industry
- Critically analyse how information technology and innovations can be implemented within the field of tourism and hospitality and assess the impact
- Critically examine the creation of value through information technology tools in business processes specifically related to tourism and hospitality
- Assess how information technology can be used for effective and informed decision making within the tourism and hospitality field
- Critically reflect on various sources of information for tourism and hospitality organisations

- Use effective research and analytical tools to identify relevant technology opportunities for the tourism and hospitality industry
- Critically analyse potential outcomes and effects of the implementation of ICT applications prior to implementing such a technology
- Practice effective leadership at work with regards to innovation management, technology and information
- Communicate making use of various types of technologic applications in a clear and effective manner
- Use technology to support the enhancing of a tourism and hospitality business

Digital Skills and Competences
At the end of the course, the learner will be able to:
- Use technology for effective customer management and customer relationship management in tourism and hospitality
- Practice effective communication making use of various digital tools such as email communications
- Use technology to enhance the overall brand of the organisation within the tourism and hospitality industry
Programme Delivery
This module shall be taught with a student-centred approach whereby learners are encouraged to take active participation in their own learning. Learners shall be presented with PowerPoint presentations, case-study examples, and other interactive learning materials. Students will be asked to discuss and exchange communication amongst each other (classroom or online, as per learning mode chosen).
Assessment
This course shall be assessed with an assignment (75%) whereby learners are expected to present an original piece of work including properly referenced literature and practical examples. The assignment has a word count limit of 1,500 words. Learners are also expected to undergo a classroom assessment including discussions, multiple-choice assessments and/or observation (25%). Moreover, learners are expected to obtain a minimum of 50% of the total mark to successfully pass from the module.
